Vancouver Maternity Photographer - Special

Nearly 2 years ago I made the difficult decision to give up my full time job to pursue my dreams. I was so nervous and really had no clue whether I stood a chance in this competitive market. Many people thought I was crazy to take such a risk, but one person (who happened to be my boss at the time) took one look and my work and made me believe I could do it :-) So today's session was extra special because I got to capture him and his partner as they wait for their baby girl to arrive!

It was wonderful seeing you again and I cannot wait to meet your new bundle of joy :-)

Vancouver Baby Photographer - Charming

I love watching "my" babies grow and change and I was delighted to photograph this handsome young man today. He was the tiniest little guy when I first met him almost exactly 1 year ago!

An now, he's grown into quite the charmer :-) He was full of personality and those gorgeous brown eyes will break plenty of hearts when he gets older!

Natalie was a great helper today, and he couldn't leave without giving her a great big hug. Awwww...!

Vancouver Maternity Photographer - Love, Laughter and a baby bump

What I love about my job is the frequent opportunity I get to catch a glimpse at the miracle of life. Every time I meet a couple expecting a brand new baby I'm reminded of the joy and anticipation I felt when waiting for my own babies to arrive. In my view, the glow of an expectant mother is second only to the glow of a mom holding her tiny newborn. There is a sense of serenity and peace that we just don't have enough in this world. I am so thankful my work can stop time, in a sense, and these families can remember the feelings they had at this stage in their life.

Today's couple was so easy to photograph. You could tell this baby is going to be surrounded by love! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this special time in your lives :-)

Vancouver Maternity Photographer - Fun

I love it when my clients are up for anything. It gives me a chance to try new things and not get severely stressed out when the weather doesn't cooperate, lol.

We got lots of shots in the studio, but I was thrilled when the rain let up just long enough for us to snap a few outdoor photos in the gorgeous autumn setting. Pretty soon the dark dreary days will be up on us, so I'm making sure to take advantage while I can.

Thank you so much for being so easy to work with! See you soon.

Vancouver Maternity Photographer - A tiny bump

Today's beautiful mommy to be had the cutest little bump. I could hardly believe she's 37 weeks already! We got to do a variety of shots, and I loved that we were able to get at least a few outdoor shots.

The weather did NOT want to cooperate today, lol. When we needed shade, the sun would come out. When a bit of extra light would have helped, it would go all dark, and when we decided to go outside, the rain started. But mother nature couldn't stop me :-) I'm so thrilled with the shots we got! Can't wait to see you guys again in just a few short weeks.

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Do not disturb

Some newborns will sleep through just about anything and some won't sleep at all. Then there are babies like today's little fella.

He was more than happy to sleep, he just didn't want do be disturbed, lol. We joked with his parents that he really could have used one of those "do not disturb" signs! Posing can get a bit tricky in such a situation, so I had to resort to the easy poses this time. Plus the peanut wrap is so cozy that no newborn can resist its powers, haha. With enough patience and lots of snuggles from mommy, we even managed to do one of the more elaborate set ups. It's Christmas themed, though, so I won't be showing it on the blog just yet :-)

He certainly was well worth all the efforts. I mean just look at him!

Vancouver Maternity Photographer - Don't let the blue fool you....

... because there's a baby girl on her way in just a few short weeks!

I cannot wait to meet her. Her mommy and daddy are some of the nicest people around. It was such a pleasure meeting you today and getting to capture your wonderful baby bump. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Vancouver Portrait Photographer - Hypnomammas

Oh, what a pleasure today's session was!

Like most of the best things that happen to me, I met Jennifer King purely by chance :-) She is a Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Canada’s FIRST(& currently only) Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor, and the SWEETEST person you could ever meet!

She fell in love with my work and I gladly supplied her with large prints to decorate her office. I had the honour of photographing many of her students (before and after baby's arrival) and each and every one of them had nothing but high praise for both Jennifer and the coping skills they learned in her classes.

I really wanted to feature Jennifer on my blog, because I firmly believe in the work she does and I can see the difference in the couples I get to photograph. There is a calmness and sense of preparedness from those who have taken her class. And once the babies are here, I can see a high level of confidence even in first time parents :-)

If you are, or someone you know is, expecting a baby, be sure to check out the Hypnomammas website to learn more about birthing options you may not have thought about.

Photographing Jenn was a treat in itself.  All I had to say was "baby" and she would immediately light up and give me the biggest smiles (that was my trick for the day, lol).  The day was absolutely gorgeous so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture the beautiful Autumn colours while they still last. We had a lot of fun together and I can't wait to see you again soon! Enjoy!

Richmond Maternity Photographer - A Touch of Glamour

Two sessions in one day are highly unusual for me, but I must say I enjoyed myself thoroughly with both sets of clients.

I love trying new things or adding a new twist to a classic pose. We had so much fun that I hardly noticed the time go by. Thank you so much for coming today. I can't wait to meet your new baby in just a few short weeks :-)

Enjoy!

Vancouver Maternity Photographer - Baby bump

Today was a very busy day with two maternity sessions! The second sneak peek coming up shortly :-)

This lovely couple is expecting their baby girl in just a few short weeks, and it's obvious she will be showered with love from the moment she's here. Thank you so much for coming today. Enjoy your sneak peek.

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Giggles

Sleep was definitely not on the agenda today, lol. This pretty little girl was going to be my model for the new Mamique Fall designs, but she had a different idea and was too interested in what was going on to sleep for more than just a few minutes at a time. No worries, though, because it's rare that I get to capture so many wonderful expressions from a newborn.

Do you think she's laughing at my efforts here? Hahaha

We did manage to capture at least a few product shots. The peanut always does the trick and after some singing and rocking she dozed off long enough for a few sleeping shots :-)

North Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Sweet Lips

I'm so excited about some boys coming to see me finally! The next few months are filled with a good mixture of boys and girls.

Today's little man had the most beautiful lips I've ever seen. He was so lovely to photograph and quite content to let me do my thing, as long as I didn't rush him. He let me know in no uncertain terms who's the boss, lol.

He also showed daddy (and me) what happens when you decide to hold a naked baby, hahaha. Parents are always so mortified when their baby relieves themselves. I say, "it" happens! I expect it, I'm prepared for it, and frankly it's cute :-) I guess having two of my own really desensitized me to it.

It is by far the most rewarding job I could ever imagine. I mean, just look at him :-)

Vancouver Baby Photographer - Cuteness overload

It is rare that I do the same set up twice in one week, and even more rare that I post the photos on my site, but I simply couldn't resist posting the bear shot from today :-)

I met a lovely baby girl today who reminded me so much of my own girl when she was that age, that I was immediately smitten with her. Of course, she wasn't sure how she felt about me at first. There was some seriousness, then some real tears, but after a quick snack and a super quick catnap, she decided I wasn't so bad after all and smiled, giggled and cooed by the end of it.

I was such a pleasure to have you guys over today! I feel so blessed to have a job that allows me to meet such wonderful people :-). Enjoy!

Vancouver Commercial Photographer - Mobiado

Luxury at its best, Mobiado phones are smoking hot! So when the company's owner (and designer of these cool phones!) told me he liked my style and asked me to capture some portraits of him to be used in various publications, I was very nervous and very excited :-)

Certainly, this is was no newborn session, lol, but I'm thrilled with the results!
