Little Man

With his head full of hair and a wise gaze, he reminded me of a little man.  He was such a curious little boy and was not at all interested in sleeping.  But despite being awake, he was so calm and relaxed that he let me pose him in various set ups without too much complaining.  And when he did finally rest his eyes for a bit, he gave me the cutest little smirk.

Sleep? I don't think so

Oh boy, oh boy, this little lady did not want to sleep.  Not only that, but she didn't even want to participate. At all! It was obvious that she was having a bad day, so we called it a day and re-scheduled her session.  Three weeks later and lo and behold, it was perfect! Despite being older, she did great we captured many wonderful shots.  And check out her hair! How adorable is that?!

This little dolly was just over 3 weeks old at her session, and past the typical newborn age I photograph (5-10 days old).  As expected, she wanted to watch what's going on and took a bit convincing to get to sleep.   In the end though, we got a great mixture of awake and sleepy shots, which I think it's even better :-)

Hahaha, I think she was doubtful of my abilities judging by her expression here :-)

Better late than never (or so they say!)

Well, as it's becoming painfully obvious, I am incredibly behind on blogging.  This handsome little man came to see me in January (New Years Day to be exact!). It only made sense to use the tiny top hat I've had for several years!  A photographer friend of mine (Lana Boulanger)who was visiting from Winnipeg suggested a variation on the typical "chin on hands" pose, and with her help we were able to safely create this image.  Thank you Lana!

Smiles that just kept coming

I always try capturing a newborn smile during the session and don't mind waiting for it when I notice baby just might be in that mood.  The smiles typically last less than a second, and if you're not ready and fast, you'll miss them.  Usually my tiny clients reserve their smiles for when I'm switching up set ups with the camera far, far away from reach, but this little guy was so patient with me! He gladly waited and gave me plenty of opportunities to catch a few of them :-)  So excited to see him again when he's a bit older!

Just lounging

Such a delightful family to work with! I'm super excited to see them again this fall.  I can't wait to see how much this handsome boy has grown and changed.
