What an absolute treasure! Though tiny princess was definitely not interested in sleeping much, we got beautiful portraits of her nonetheless. And I mean with such beautiful eyes, it would be a shame if she slept through it all :-) Congratulations guys! Always a pleasure working with you!

Oh how I loved seeing this adorable boy again! Time just flew by since our last session, and his smiles and curiosity made for a super fun session. Can't wait to see them again soon.

Vancouver Portrait Photographer - Not just for kids
From time to time, I love taking on a project that is completely outside of my usual work. A client who listens to my directions and actually does what I ask? Unheard of!
Taking advantage of some late September sunshine, we walked around areas surrounding my studio and had some fun.

Stunning doesn't even begin to describe this beautiful mom to be! She was a natural in front of the lens as she beamed with excitement about meeting her little baby in just a few short weeks.

Vancouver Newborn Photography - Just Chillin'
Today is International Children's Day and though it's not really celebrated in North America I think it's a wonderful opportunity to show kids how much we adore them! So go ahead, spoil them a little. Just one day won't hurt them!
I was so excited to finally get a newborn boy in the studio :-) Now, don't get me wrong, I love boys and girls equally, but lately there has been a bit of a girl streak, so getting a chance to pull out my boy props and set ups was fun!
He was so relaxed the whole time he was here. He was so good I didn't even get my fill of snuggles before we were done. His squishy little cheeks were just to die for! As is typically the case I was sad to see him go, but happy I got to capture these little treasures for his mom and dad.

Vancouver Photographer - Mother's Day Sepcial
Just two weeks left until mother's day! What did you get your mom this year? What would you want to get? I am excited to say that I finally have a gorgeous portrait of me and my girls (I will share it on mothers day with you). I'm always the one behind the lens trying to capture all the little moments, thus I'm never in any of the photos.
I swear, if something were to happen to me today, my girls would be left with just a handful of images of us together. I've promised myself to, at the very least, capture one portrait with each one of them on an annual basis.
My own sweet mama has lost her own mom (my grandma) before I was born. Growing up, I learned what an amazing person and mother my grandmother was, but what I remember most is how much my mom treasured the old photograph of the two of them together, standing by the sea, my grandmother wearing a gorgeous polka dot dress, and my own mom at just a few years old. My mom still has that image framed and prominently displayed in her home, many decades later. In this digital age we take photographs for granted, but I personally believe that thousands of quick snapshots pale in comparison to a single beautifully composed portrait. Because of that I am once again thrilled to offer the mother's day mini session to ensure you and your children have something to cherish for years to come.

Vancouver Photographer - Intrigue
Ahhh, Valentine's Day! The day to slow down, relax and focus on a softer, more intimate part of your life. Being a mom is not easy (neither is being a dad!) and many couples get lost in the day to day duties of being a parent, forgetting to take the time to just talk to each other. You know, the way you used to talk before you started worrying about the shopping list, who's turn it is to do the dishes, or which preschool will give your baby the best chance to get ahead in school.
Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to remind yourselves that you're not just parents. I challenge you to turn off your computer this evening. Forget about checking your phone, or what's on TV. Don't talk about your kids, or work, or chores. Just talk about you, what you like about each other, what things you like to do together, perhaps share a secret ;-)
I believe a little bit of time together, really communicating, means a lot more than a trinket or flowers. Don't forget the power of a compliment. Believe it or not, men often feel insecure about how they look too, so Ladies, tell your men how dashing they look. And when your husband tells you that you're beautiful, believe him! You may not notice it, but he sees all the intriguing things about you :-) The shape of your lips, the dimples when you smile, the way your hair falls on your neck; all the little details that make you the beautiful woman he fell in love with. And if you just can't see it, let me show you!
So many women get absorbed with being a mother, that they forget about themselves. I think that's the main reason women have a hard time believing when they're told they're beautiful. They don't believe the sensual, alluring woman she was before her babies arrived is still part of who she is.
Inspired by my gorgeous clients, I am happy to introduce the INTRIGUE session. A short and sweet session to showcase your natural beauty. This is available for a limited time only, so if you're interested, please contact me for more details.
I hope you have a fabulous Valentine's day and that you take me up on my challenge ;-)

Vancouver Newborn and Baby Photographer - Merry Christmas!
I just wanted to take a moment to wish all of my past and future clients, my fans, my friends and my family all the best this Holiday Season and thank you for making 2011 the best year yet! May your dreams come true, the way you made mine come to life. May the laughter and squeals of Christmas morning fill your heart full of joy to last the year. And may 2012 be a year filled with adventure and excitement as you watch your families grow and change.
I have met so many wonderful families, shared birth stories with new and veteran moms alike, hugged and snuggled all the gorgeous babies I had the privilege to meet, and truly appreciated the gift of trust I received from each and every one of my clients this year. I'm not usually an emotional person, but at this time each year, as I look back at the year passed, I get a little teary eyed thinking about how incredibly lucky I am to do what I LOVE!
It was also wonderful to see so many of my past clients back for some Christmas portraits!
I hope you have a great day! I know I will as I watch my girls unwrap their presents from Santa, and stuff myself silly with my mother-in-law's yummy turkey :-)

Vancouver Twin Photography - Room to stretch
After sharing a confined space for several months, these little two were happy to have some space to themselves. Whether she kicked him a few too many times, or he told too many knock-knock jokes, I don't know, but one thing was certain, they did not like to share the spotlight :-). Individually, they cooperated beautifully, but put them together and they were not having it. At 6 weeks old, sessions are challenging, with twins, mom had to work twice as hard at comforting them. That said, all the effort was worth it!

HO HO HO - Vancouver Christmas Mini Photo Sessions
Christmas may still be a couple of months away, but it will be here before you know it and it's time to start planning your holiday cards.
For the first time ever, Mamique Photography will be holding a day of mini sessions on October 29th this year. The sessions will be short and sweet (15-20 minutes) in the gorgeous fall colours mother nature has set up for us :-) Should mother nature decide to rain on our parade, the day will be moved to November 5th (and we'll do the photos in the studio should it rain that day, also).
The session fee of $200 will include the following:
15-20 minute outdoor shoot
5 fully retouched images to chose your prints from
1 8x10 print
set of 24 5x7 Christmas cards with envelopes
Additional card sets are $50 per set, and additional products/prints can be purchased at 10% off the a la carte pricing. Digital files are not included but can be purchased separately.
Reserve your spot by clicking on the button below. There is a very limited number of spots available and they are on a first come first serve basis.
I have a beautiful selection of Christmas card designs available in a variety of finishes. You will be able to see samples and select your favourite at the session.
What if you want Christmas cards, but would prefer to use an image from your past session? No worries! Cards are available at $100 for first set of 24, with additional sets at $50 each. And yes, envelopes are included! If you wish to see the various samples, just give me a call to set up an appointment. Please note, order deadline for Christmas cards is November 15th.
