I love photographing expectant mothers! Besides the fact that I feel each and every woman I work with is absolutely beautiful, and the fact that I will get to photograph a squishy little newborn a few weeks later, the main reason I love maternity photography is showing my clients how truly glowing and gorgeous they are. The sessions are held at around 35 weeks, and by that point most women don't FEEL beautiful. Let's face it, growing a human being is hard work! I love taking the opportunity to show them how the world sees them :-) Here is what this stunning mom had to say about her photos: "For the first time in weeks I actually feel attractive. Thank you so much for this!"

And as expected, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree :-) Her baby girl is just the prettiest little thing!

Surrey Newborn Photographer - Introducing Little Sister

I was so excited to photograph the newest addition to this lovely family.  Like her older sister two years ago, this little cutie put up a bit of a fight to start with, but this time around, I had a few more tricks up my sleeve, and we managed to get little miss to sleep so that her mommy could get some of the photos she really wanted.

But before showing off her photos, I simply have to share her gorgeous mommy, while she waited for her arrival.  Now that their house is filled with laughter and giggles of two lovely girls, I hope this peaceful photo brings mom some calm when things get a bit chaotic from time to time :-)

This little sweetheart is one lucky girl to have such loving big brothers.  Being a bit older than the typical newborns I photograph, it took a bit of coaxing to get her to dose of for couple of photos, but once she did, she was a dream.

Oh, how I love all of my "Watch Me Grow" package clients. Not only do I get to cuddle them as tiny newborns, play peek-a-boo when they learn how to sit, or break out some dance moves once they can stand, I also watch them change and grow into their personalities. This little dude made us work hard for his smiles, but oh, those smiles were worth every bit of effort! He's going to break many, many hearts one day :-)

Today's rain has made me realize that summer fun is over.  I have to admit this year's summer was absolutely amazing.  The weather was great and I made sure to spend as much time with my girls as I possibly could.  That meant only the very urgent work was getting done; like shooting sessions, editing images, designing albums, placing orders and having things ready for clients in a timely fashion.  I did little else work wise. I'll have many long hours ahead of me, now that my girls are back at school, but you know what, I wouldn't change it for the world!

Get ready for this quiet little blog to get busy again as I post all the beautiful babies and soon-to-be mommas I worked with over the summer.

Without further ado, let's show off this little beauty I met back in June.  Isn't she just the sweetest little thing? She was perfect in every single way!

Back in September I had the pleasure of photographing a family with their two beautiful girls, and I was thrilled when the mom's sister contacted me a couple of months later to capture images of her gorgeous family. Like their cousins, these two girls were absolute joy to work with. Big sis was a pro at making her baby sister giggle.

I love babies of all shapes and sizes. I adore tiny newborns with perfectly detailed features and ones with lean long limbs. I love round bellies and wrinkles on their backs. I love bald babies as well as ones with a head full of hair. And I think babies covered in peach fuzz are just the sweetest sight ever, but my real weakness is for squishy chubby cheeks. I'm quite certain I squealed when I laid my eyes on this little girl! I couldn't wait to get started and I was so happy that she was super laid back, too. I couldn't have asked for a better session!

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Models

As most of you know, Vancouver can get pretty dark and dreary during the winter months. I love the look of soft natural light, and have invested heavily into equipment that will allow me to capture beautiful images, even in low lighting conditions, but there are days where it's so dark that natural light alone is just not enough.

So back in December I had the pleasure of photographing three adorable newborns whose parents were kind enough to bring them by my studio while a photographer friend of mine and I tried out different lighting set ups to create lighting similar to my naturally lit images.

I'm pleased to say that we were very happy with our results and given how rainy January has been, the new techniques have come in very handy!

The awesome thing about shooting with another photographer is being able to work together on some of the more challenging poses. Leslie is a talented photographer from Williams Lake, BC, and it felt like she could read my mind ;-) So much easier with an extra pair of hands!

The babies were absolutely gorgeous and very cooperative only adding to the already fantastic day :-)
